BlogBlog Party - March 2026

Deadline:

Submissions so far:

I’m honored to be hosting the third BlogBlog Party. This is a monthly blog carnival that started in the Chinese blogging community, inspired by IndieWeb Carnival. Each month, a different host picks a theme, and everyone writes a post on the same topic. Huge thanks to Wiwi for making it happen.

This event is primarily in Chinese, but submissions in any language are welcome. If you have a blog, I’d love for you to join in.

In an era where everyone is on social media, I think people who still blog are special. My hero Derek Sivers once said: “People who have personal websites are my kind of people.” I feel the same way.

Here’s the March theme. Come play!

Theme: Perfect days

I’ve been thinking a lot about what my ideal daily life looks like. Is it gaming all day? Quality family time? Heads-down creating? Sitting on a beach in a foreign country, watching the tide roll in and out? Or some kind of work-life balance where you have a little bit of everything?

I haven’t figured it out, of course. So I wanted to use this as a chance to think it through and see how other people think about it.

In the film Perfect Days, the protagonist makes a living cleaning public toilets, yet finds contentment in the ordinary rhythms of daily life: music, photography, and reading.

There’s also a well-known Chinese pop song called A Perfect Day by Stefanie Sun (孫燕姿), one of the most iconic singers in the Mandarin-speaking world. In it, she sings about wanting a big house with floor-to-ceiling windows, sunlight on the floor, staying up all night, thinking in bed all day, and a puppy running around the house. A perfect day.

What does your ideal daily life look like? Is it achievable, or does it stay in the realm of fantasy?

If you dream of being an astronaut, you’d probably spend most of your time working inside a space station. What would that daily life actually look like?

To have an ideal life, you first need an ideal. What’s yours? What are you working toward?

If you’re still not sure what to write, just write about “my ideal” like a school essay. Or write about “what my ideal used to be.”

You could also go philosophical with “does an ideal day even exist?” or write a short story titled “A Perfect Day.”

The point is to participate. Go wild!
