Why document reading and note-taking?
Reading isn’t the goal—internalizing knowledge is.
Here I share my thoughts on reading and note-taking:
- How to read - More efficient, deeper reading methods
- How to take notes - Capture while it’s hot, don’t wait until you’re done
- How to internalize - Turn knowledge into wisdom
- How to output - Use writing to verify understanding
The books you’ve read don’t matter—what you remember does.

Take notes while reading, not after
In Chinese, there's a phrase for 'reading reflections' that implies you write them after finishing a book. That's backwards. The best notes are written in the moment.
