Don't wait for new year to be happy

Today is the first day of 2026.
Fireworks, kids on break, no time to create.
But other than that, it’s just like any other day.

As I get older, I find myself caring less and less about rituals and ceremonies.

I wrote in Pretty Number Syndrome:

The way we measure time and the numbers we use are human inventions. When deciding to start or stop doing something, how “pretty” the number is shouldn’t be a factor.

The same goes for holidays.

Want to give a gift? Don’t wait for birthdays, anniversaries, or Christmas. Give it today.
Want to do something? Don’t pick a special day. Do it today.
What should be done, should be done every day.

You don’t need the new year for new hope. You don’t need the new year to be happy.
Be happy every day.
